Confused about pricing and installation costs? Here are some broad basic considerations about greenhouse coverings:

  1. Least Expensive – single layer Poly.
  2. Slightly Higher – double layer Poly, But this material lasts longer and increases safety compared to single layer poly. Double Poly is our largest seller. US manufactured greenhouse poly outlasts those manufactured elsewhere. Some poly from certain countries lasts only 7 – 12 months. Our US made 4 year UV type has lasted up to 6 to 8 years even in the tropics if properly installed and maintained.
  3. Insect Screens – generally run anywhere from $0.15 to $0.70 USD per square foot, depending upon quality, Type of insect repelled
  4. Fiberglass – a wide range of quality and price is available, from $0.45 to $0.85 USD per square foot. The least expensive material has no warranty. Rarely used in the year 2000.
  5. Polycarbonate – corrugated shape. Our most popular permanent covering. Low cost installation accessories. Polycarbonate costs from $0.90 to $1.65 USD per square foot, depending on grade and quantity.
  6. Twinwall Polycarbonate – great energy saver. Prices from approximately $1.05 to $2.20 USD per square foot. Extrusions will increase the cost as will thickness
  7. Acrylic Covering – 30 year to 40 year life. Tremendous product, used extensively in the highest quality structures. Requires special extrusions. $1.95 to $3.00 USD per square foot, depending upon extrusions and thickness.
  8. Shade Materials – a special word. Materials range from large quantities (20′ containers) to single rolls. Material costs depend on warranties, shade percentage, quality of materials used, usage (outdoor versus indoor), reflect ability, etc. Prices can be as low as $0.05 USD and as high as $0.60 USD per square foot many different qualities, shade percentages, location in the world shipped from, and colors.
  9. There are minimums on most materials. Up charges apply on orders less than 500 sq.ft. of item 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and on less than 4,000 SQFT of items 1, 2, and 8

Prices of greenhouse coverings are based on one or more of the following considerations:

  1. Time of your order
  2. Quantity desired
  3. Length and width of material
  4. Any special fabrication needed
  5. If rolled material, number of rolls needed
  6. Thickness of material (6mil, 8mil, etc.)
  7. Weight per square foot
  8. Price of Oil

A NOTE ABOUT QUALITY

A major mistake in the 1980’s.

Our regular high quality structure sheet producer was on strike so we settled on the number two supplier. After only two years, failure began. Notice how discoloration occurred rapidly and unevenly.

Buying quality poly and structured sheets is so important and only increases the cost of the project by a few cents US per square foot.
