E.01 Structural Wind Protection
Windbreaks can make your greenhouses easier to heat and cool. Windy conditions can often double the amount of fuel needed to heat a greenhouse or nursery structure. Properly designed windbreaks have been shown in soiree cases to cut structural heating and cooling costs by as much as 10 to 40 percent.
By reducing the force of wind on the exterior surface of your structure, a windbreak can greatly reduce the heat convection properties of cold winds. In areas with hot, dry winds, windbreaks can reduce the summertime cost of cooling your greenhouse.
Our structural windbreaks not only help shield your structure from wind stress, but they improve sanitary conditions by reducing wind driven dust and dirt. USGR structural windbreaks are made of heavy duty. UV resistant polypropylene fabric with a 40% to 60% screenings capability, depending on your local wind conditions.
Recommended Fabrics: A.18 Woven Shade, A.23 Knit Shade. E.10 PAK 508 Windbreak.

E.02 Farmstead Wind Protection
A sure way to reduce farmstead heating and cooling costs. Cold winter winds blowing across the surface of a building will drain the heat out of that building by the process of convection. In areas with hot, dry winds, windbreaks can also reduce the summertime cost of cooling your buildings. A well-placed windbreak can greatly decrease the effects of wind and have been shown in some cases to cut structural heating and cooling costs as much as 10 to 40 percent.
These structural windbreaks not only help protect your buildings from wind stress, but they also improve sanitary conditions by reducing wind driven dust and dirt. PAK windbreaks are made of heavy duty, UV resistant polypropylene fabric with a 40% to 60% screening capability.

E.03 Field Crop Windbreaks
Protect your field crops with durable field windbreaks. We offer a full line of field windbreak fabrics that will improve crops’ irrigation efficiency, lower evaporation rates, reduce pumping costs and reduce soil loss and damage from the wind. These UV resistant fabrics are made of rugged polypropylene with reinforced seams and edges for added durability.
Crops protected from the wind are able to retain significantly more moisture. PAK windbreaks also help reduce topsoil erosion to a level, which will help permit crop production to be sustained economically.
Recommended Fabrics: A.18 Woven Shade, A.23 Knit Shade, E10 PAK 508 Windbreak.

E.04 Agriculture Windbreaks
Create a better environment for your home, ranch or farmstead. Our agricultural windbreak fabrics have a multitude of benefits for the agricultural work environment. Windbreak fabrics can help reduce the rate of topsoil loss over large areas. This feature leads to greater soil fertility and dust control around homes and farms. The windbreak fabrics create a favorable microclimate within a zone of protection. In this zone, energy costs can be reduced by as much as 10% to 40%.
Our windbreaks have the following commercial-quality features: reinforced fabric panel edges, UV stabilized fabric and sewing thread and rugged, brass spread grommets. Choose from windbreak fabric screen percentages from 40% to 60%.

E.05 Tree Shelters
Give your trees and shrubs a head start. Protect your young trees from animal damage and drying winds with PAK tree shelters. A tree or seedling sheltered from the wind grows faster and healthier because water retention is improved and evaporation is reduced. Our shelters also protect trees from defoliation and tip scorching. PAK tree shelters can be made to any size.
Recommended Fabrics: B.11 Ground Cover, E.09 PAK 2-sided Tarp Fabric.
Related Products: A.14 Ultralite Orchard Shade, B.05 Tree Squares & Strips, D.13 Orchard Bird Protection.
E.06 Orchard Wind Control
Give your orchard a break from damaging winds. Our field-proven windbreak fabrics offer your orchard a haven from the damaging effects of wind. Using PAK windbreak fabrics, you will help protect your orchard from the following: evaporation, fruit bruising, blossom and leaf damage, windrub and shoot tip scorching. PAK windbreaks can also give you greater efficiency in orchard spraying and an overall increase in orchard temperatures by reducing wind speed.
Fabric windbreaks have significant advantages over tree barriers. They don’t compete with your crops for water and nutrients. They don’t take years to establish, and they don’t require pest or weed control. Our windbreak fabric comes in 40% to 60% screening and is highly UV stabilized for extended outdoor life. When planning your windbreak, remember a couple of key principles. The windbreak will provide wind protection 5 to 10 times its height downwind, and the windbreak should be at least 11 times as long as it is high.
Recommended Fabrics: A.18 Woven Shade, A.23 Knit Shade, E.10 PAK 508 Windbreak

E.07 Orchard Hail Protection
Protect your orchard from hail. Hail will not only damage fruit, buds and leaves; it can also stunt tree growth and can reduce your orchard’s production over multiple seasons. PAK hail net is a long lasting, UV stabilized, tear resistant netting that helps prevent hail damage to fruit and defoliation. This feature leads to higher yields and a healthier orchard. Our polyethylene orchard netting is designed with an optimum hole size that catches hail while still letting in plenty of sunlight.
The orchard hail net has the additional benefits of helping to protect your orchard crops from wind and birds, and it provides a very light shade. The netting has been shown to be extremely effective when used on a sawtooth pole & cable type canopy. This system allows the hail to collect in the valleys, which are positioned above and between orchard rows. The netting can also be attached to existing trellises in order to reduce the cost of the support system.
Recommended Fabrics: E.12 Quad Crossover Hail Net, E.13 Hail Guard.
Related Products: A.14 Ultralite Orchard and Field Shade, B.05 Tree Squares & Strips, D.13 Orchard Bird Protection.

PAK hail net gives you round-the-clock protection for your vines, shielding them from defoliation and grape damage, which can render your product unmarketable. Hail net has a small hole size, which helps traps hail while also allowing plenty of sunlight.
The lightweight netting is tough, rip resistant and highly UV stabilized. The netting also reduces wind strength in the vineyard which helps lower incidents of windrub and sunburn, slows evaporations, lowers irrigation costs, creates a more favorable microclimate and makes chemical spraying more effective.
