Fire precautions: SDP double skinned sheets are produced from moldingcompounds which are combustible thermoplastics. Precautions used to protectcombustibles from flames and high heat sources should also be observed withthese materials. SDP sheets usually burn rapidly to completion if not extinguished.The products of combustion, if sufficient air is present, are carbon dioxideand water. However, in many fires, sufficient air will not be available andtoxic carbon monoxide will be formed, as it will from other common combustiblematerials. We urge good judgement in the end use of these versatile materialsand recommend that building codes be followed carefully to assure they havebeen used properly. Access panels may be required for evacuation and ventingof rooms glazed with SDP sheets. SDP sheets burn more rapidly than their solidcounterparts.
